Marubeni, founded in 1858,
is one of the leading Japanese trading and production corporations operating in various
fields and industries.In the electricity sector, it has invested in 39 power plants in 23 countries with a combined capacity of 33,500MW.
The corporation made its first investment in Vietnam in 1975 when it built the first oil-fired Tra Noc power plant in Can Tho. So far, it has engaged in 10 projects in Vietnam with a combined capacity of up to 4,043 MW, accounting for 20% of the country's total.
A representative of the Marubeni Corporations, Ogosi Shinichiro expressed his wish to build the 1,200MWKim Son thermal power plant in the form of BOTafter surveying topography conditions as well as incentives for investment in the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Thang, who is also deputy secretary of the provincial Party committee, welcomed the visit to study investment chances for this project, and pledged to direct agencies and Kim Son district authorities to create favourable conditions so that the project would be invested as soon as possible.
