The tourism week was initially planned as part of activities during the Visit Vietnam Year 2021 which is hosted by Ninh Binh province.
Events will take place throughout the year, with 11 major activities and 27 others hosted by Ninh Binh province, while a hundred corresponding activities will be organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism along with 27 cities and provinces nationwide.
Located in the southern reaches of the Red River Delta, Ninh Binh is known for its wondrous natural scenery, with a labyrinth of waterways, mountains, and plains as well as cross-cultural influences from the north to the south and from the mountains to the plains and coastal areas.
The province is home to 1,821 relic sites, including 81 national relic sites and a world cultural and natural heritage site.
In the past years, Ninh Binh has been chosen as a top destination in Vietnam and the world by prestigious travel websites and local tourism expanded over 11 percent on average during 2010-2019. In 2019, the province welcomed nearly 8 million visitors, created jobs and sustainable livelihoods for tens of thousands of local people.
Last year, Ninh Binh served only 2.8 million visitors, including 2.6 domestic tourists, down almost 60 percent from 2019 due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
