Under the plan, the province will build an information portal for tourism, develop a smart tourism app on mobile devices and offer free-wifi access to visitors at sightseeing places.
Ninh Binh expects the smart tourism system will help visitors find information about the province's destinations quickly and accurately and promote its tourism potentials.
Smart tourism is a part of a tourism urban city that uses information and communication technology to form a tourism ecosystem and create interactive benefits for three objects: visitor, authority and enterprise and to build a high-quality service tourism industry, contributing to the sustainable economic development.
At present, the Department of Tourism has assigned the Tourism Promotion Center to implement a smart tourism system to promote the tourism industry's growth, catching up with the fourth Industrial Revolution in Ninh Binh province - the land renowned as "red address" for "tourism resources and destinations" in the country in recent years.
For state management agencies, smart tourism will increase the effectiveness of the management of the tourism industry, while ensuring social order. It is also a channel to promote tourism potentials to international visitors at low cost.
Smart tourism also filters the travel data, which can help predict new trends of the tourism industry.
As for travelers, smart tourism will help them save time and costs in searching locations and ways with accurate information, booking hotels and restaurants easily.
For tourism enterprises, smart tourism provides them a chance to expand business opportunities, promote and advertise themselves, contributing to increase revenues for businesses.
Tourism businesses use a restaurant management software that can send reports to the management authority directly and conveniently. The solution also helps them save time in solving legal and administrative procedures.
Pham Duy Phong, Director of the Ninh Binh Tourism Promotion Information Centre, said that, in 2018 - 2020,Ninh Binh is focusing on building the tourist information portal along with the smart tourism app to be used on mobile devices; digitize the tourism industry data and build a database on tourism; provide free wifi access for tourists at tourist destinations.
The province strives to complete and officially put the tourism portal and the smart tourism app on mobile devices into operation by the end of April, 2018.
The implementation of the smart tourism programme is an opportunity for Ninh Binht o strengthen its technological capabilities to catch up with new trends in the field. At the same time, it also helps the province create modern tourism products to meet the domestic and foreign visitors' demand.
