The Ninh Binh Department of Culture and Sports, on February, 3rd, issued a document to steer districts, cities to postpone all traditional festivals which are yet to start in the area as a key measure to control the novel coronavirus (nCoV) outbreak.
Accordingly, for those which already began, their scale, duration and activities should be reduced; the organising board of these festivals must provide preventive measures against nCoV as well.
The decision was made to strengthen the prevention and control of the nCoV outbreak, effectively reduce meetings and mass gatherings, curb the spread of the epidemic, and better protect the lives and health of the people.
In addition, recommendations will be given to visitors, local people to use face masks when joining all activities at historical - cultural relic sites and scenic landscapes.
The departments, sectors and localities need to implement preventive measures to beat nCoV's spread during spring festival activities or mass gathering events.
In 2020,225 festivals will be held in the province. Nearly half of them will be taken place duringthe first, second and third month of the lunar year. Some of them are famous festivals like Bai Dinh festival, Thai Vi temple festival, Hoa Lu festival, which draw a large number of visitors every year.
