In 2024, Ninh Binh sets a target of achieving an economic growth rate of 8%. This is a big challenge but also affirms the enormous determination of the Ninh Binh Party Organisation, administration and peopleto fulfill the aspiration of turning itself into a developed province in the Red River Delta by 2030.
Ninh Binh's six-month GRDP ranks 12th nationwide
In the first half of 2024, though facing numerous difficulties and challenges, the province has steered local administrations, sectors and localities to strictly implement measures, promptly remove difficulties and create favourable conditions for local enterprises to maintain and develop operation and business and step up the development of service sectors.
Thanks to these measures, the province's GRDP expanded by 8.19% in the first six months of 2024, ranking 12th out of 63 centrally-run cities and provinces nationwide and ranking 6th out of 11 centrally-run cities and provinces in the Red River Delta.
In particular, Ninh Binh has balanced the budget itself and contributed to the state budget since 2022.
Notably, the province has consistently implemented its medium- and long-term target of taking green and modern industry with high value as a momentum; taking tourism as a spearhead economic sector and eco-agriculture with multi values as a priority.
The tourism sector has seen robust growth. A series of national and international cultural and political events and seminars have been held in the province, namely the 1,100th birth anniversary of King Ding Tien Hoang and opening ceremony of Hoa Lu festival; the 10th anniversary of UNESCO's recognition of Trang An Landscape Complex as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site, a ceremony to announce the provincial planning scheme in the period of 2021-2030 with a vision to 2030, helping the province to promote and spread the unique and outstanding cultural and historical values of Ninh Binh.
In the first half of 2024, the province welcomed over 6.2 million domestic and foreign tourists, a year-on-year increase of 38% and making up 83.5% of the yearly plan. The tourism sector earned nearly 6 trillion VND in revenue.
Consistent with the growth target of 8%
The province's economy is forecasted to still face numerous difficulties in the second half of the year. Industrial production will continue to be affected by the global and region political and economic context while some key industrial products see slow consumption. However, the province is determined to achieve the growth target of 8%.
Doan Minh Huan, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, said that, in order to realise the target, Ninh Binh focuses on removing difficulties for firms, speeding up public investment capital disbursement, concentrating on developing service sectors in combination with hi-tech application, improving service quality and diversifying products.
Especially, the approved provincial planning scheme is a legal basis for the province to issue policies, re-organize administrative units, distribute resources, attract investment and promote potential and strengths, then opening up opportunities and new space, and creating new momentum and new value.
