The movement of building new-style rural areas has created good effects and spread widely with the participation of the entire political system and local people.
The appearance of rural areas has changed dramatically with clean, spacious houses, streets, gardens and beautiful landscapes. The income of rural people has been improved while the poverty rate has fallen sharply.
To date, 100% of its communes have met standards of new-style rural areas, of which at least 25.2% have been recognised as advanced rural areas. The province has built 16,904 new roads with a total length of over 2,138 kilometers. Up to 96.6% of local schools have met national standards and 100% of the communes have cultural houses.
By the end of 2023, the poverty rate had fell to 2.01% while the rate of near-poor households has dropped to 2.37%. All eight cities and districts in the province have completed the tasks of building new-style rural areas. It has 20 more communes meeting standards of advanced new-style rural areas and four communes recognized as model new-style rural areas.
Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Vice Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the programme on building new-style rural areas in the province has been on the right track, and has reaped practical outcomes.
The results were attributed to the participation of the whole political system, mass organisations and local people. Special mechanisms and policies and the timely allocation of resources for localities to perform the programme have also contributed to these successes.
The outcomes of building new-style rural areas have improved living standards of local people, increased their income, and bettered the environment.
Some rural areas have become new destinations for visitors, making it a new feature in the new-style rural area programme for the 2021-2025 period.
The province set a target of completing the tasks of building new-style rural areas in 2024.
To that end, the whole political system, local departments, sectors and administrations at all levels, and local people must actively take part in the programme, she said.
The province needs to define specific tasks, fulfill regulations and criteria set for building new-style rural areas.
Attention will be paid to promoting the communication work on new tasks of the programme for local people.
Meanwhile, it should continue to implement special mechanisms and policies for building new-style rural areas in an attempt to accomplish the tasks successfully, thereby laying a foundation for the province to achieve higher goals in the following period, she added.
