As schedule, the old quarter will be inaugurated (phase 1) and opened to visitors on January 27 right on the threshold of the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival - the biggest and longest festival of Vietnam.
A representative of the Xuan Truong Construction Company said, the restoration and upgrade of Hoa Lu old quarter aims to revive the culture and history of Dai Viet in the 10th century.
By January 26, all items of the project have basically finished, including two wooden houses. Pavilions are decorated with lanterns.
Traditional handicraft villages will be re-enacted in the old quarter area such as Van Lam embroidery village, Ninh Van stone carving village, Bo Bat pottery village, Bodhi leaf picture making; bronze casting village of Nam Dinh province, and Dong Ho picture making of Bac Ninh province.
In additions, other villages making cakes and specialties of localities nationwide will be showcased at the old quarter as well.
In particular, the ancient architect design of the Hoa Lu old quarter will offer visitors a chance to experience the livelihood of ancient people.
The new tourism product of Hoa Lu old quarter is expected to become an attractive destination for visitors when coming to Ninh Binh during the Tet festival.
The Xuan Truong Construction Company hoped that the new tourism product will contribute to building Ninh Binh into a tourism center of the Red river delta and an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign visitors.
The project will be further studied and the old quarter will be expanded, accommodating 10,000 local people in the next 10 - 20 years.
