According to the provincial Statistics Office, the province's industrial production value in the first five months reached 39.72 trillion VND (1.56 billion USD), a year-on-year increase of 6.3%.
Mineral exploitation raked in 392.7 billion VND (up 19.7%); processing and manufacturing industry earned 38.79 trillion VND (up 5.7%); and electricity production and distribution contributed 458.9 billion VND (up 60.6%).
Some key industrial products saw high growth such as stones 1.7 metric meters (up 17.8%); pineapple juice 2.4 million litters (up 20.2%); footwear 25.6 million pairs (up 11.6%); ure fertilizer 200,000 tonnes (up 58.7%); NPK fertilizer 49,000 tonnes (up 51.2%).
However, some other industrial products witnessed declines such as canned pineapple 3,400 tonnes, down 2.5%; clothes 23.1 million pieces (down 1.2%); cement and clinker 2.6 million tonnes (down 4.5%); camera modules 73.9 million pieces (down 22.7%).
The total amount of disbursed investment in the reviewed period was estimated to reach 12.44 trillion VND, representing a year-on-year rise of 2.9%. Of which, state capital was over 2.35 trillion VND (up 4.2%); non-state capital was more than 9.03 trillion VND (down 3.5%); and foreign direct investment (FDI) capital reached 1.05 trillion VND, a 2.2-fold rise.
The total retail sales in the first five months hit over 33.03 trillion VND, a year-on-year increase of 26.9%.
Up to 11 out of 12 groups of commodities saw increases, namely foods up 33.8%; clothes up 37.2%; cultural and educational products up 39.8%.
In the January-May period, the number of tourists to local tourist destinations reached nearly 5.7 million, up 36.2% against the same period last year. The number included 5 million domestic travellers and 616,000 international guests, representing year-on-year rises of 36.2% and 3.1 folds, respectively.
The number of tourists staying overnight in the province reached 1 million, up 82.9%.
The tourism sector earned more than 5.33 trillion VND, up 55.5% compared to the same period last year. Of which, revenue of accommodation establishments was 382.2 billion VND, and revenue of restaurant services hit 2.62 trillion VND, rising 42.7% and 48.3%, respectively.
