Ninh Binh issues Plan to develop tourism as spearhead economic sector

Plan No 83/KH-UBND is meant to implement Resolution No 08 dated January 16,2017 of the Politburo and the Conclusion No 03 -KL/TUdated June 26, 2016 of the Ninh Binh provincial party standing committee on this regard.

Accordingly, the Plan defines the targets of raising public awareness of developing tourism, mobilizing the participation of the entire society in preserving cultural heritage and good tradition of the nation, with regards to sustainable tourism development, building Ninh Binh a safe, civilized and friendly destination.

Under the plan, Ninh Binh must create a breakthrough in tourism products, raise the quality of tourism services, develop tourism in a sustainable way, call for investments into tourism, and turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector with high competitiveness in the regional and global markets to spur other sectors' growth.

The locality strives to welcome 7.5 million visitors (including 0.8 million foreign guests), earn a total revenue of over 3 trillion VND, and create jobs for over 20,000 people,by 2020.

By 2030, the province's tourism sector will become an official spearhead economic sector, accounting for a large part of the local economy'ss tructure.

To fulfill the above targets, Ninh Binh needs to implement following major measures, including renewing the mindset of tourism development, restructuring the tourism sector's structure, finalizing mechanisms and policies to develop tourism; investing in tourism infrastructure,enhancing tourism promotion, creating favorable conditions for enterprises and citizens getting engaged in tourism, stepping up human resources training, and improving state management.

During his working visit to Ninh Binh province in April, 2017, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said Ninh Binh should be determined to become a rich province by forging a tourism hub in the region and beyond ,and becoming a representative of Vietnam's tourism.

He underscored that tourism must be a stimulus of the province's growth, therefore it needs to develop a brand bearing Ninh Binh's mark working towards the target of making the province a must-see destination for visitors visiting Vietnam.
