In the past years, the province has exerted efforts to carry out programmes, projects and policies related to poverty reduction; build and expand models of effective poverty reduction in combination with resolving social welfare and mobilising all resources to reduce poverty sustainably.
Last year, Ninh Binh paid health insurance premium for nearly 540,800 people who are members of poor and near-poor households, social policy beneficiaries, the elderly, and children under six years old.
Local administrations at all levels, agencies, organisations and individuals spent nearly 80 billion VND to present gifts to policy beneficiary families, poor households and disadvantages families.
More than 4,900 poor and near-poor households were provided with soft loans for agricultural production, 170 others were enabled to get soft loans to build new houses with combined amount of 70 billion VND while 2,270 poor students received loans worth 53.4 billion VND in total.
From the beginning of 2023, Ninh Binh provincial people's committee has carried out Resolution 43/2023/NQ-HĐND dated March, 10, 2023 on supporting money for building new houses or repairing houses for the poor in the period 2023-2025.
Ninh Binh granted an additional total amount of 41,5 billion to assist poor households build 500 new house or repair their current house.
To date, 100% of the poor have been provided free health care card; thousands of them have been provided soft loans for agriculture production and develop household business, thereby reducing the poverty rate gradually.
From 2022 to date, the total number of poor household is 7,438, near household is 8,829 at the rate of 2,36% and 2,81%, respectively.
Since the beginning of 2023, the province has organised numerous practical activities to present 150,000 gift packages to revolutionary contributors, the elderly, poor households, and disadvantaged children worth nearly 61.5 billion VND.
Currently, sectors and agencies have been working hard to carry out projects on communications on multidimension poverty reduction and continuing to update the database of people receiving social protection.
Moreover, related departments and sectors have constantly coordinated with localities to held dialogues with poor households in a bid to listen and collect their feedback on difficulties and hindrances in implementing poverty reduction policies so as to adjust and amend policies more suitably.
In addition, the province has paid attention to providing knowledge and techniques about agricultural production and poultry breeding to the poor so as they could earn money and get rid of poverty sustainably.
In the time a head, the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs will advise the provincial People's Committee continue to implementing social welfare policies effectively and synchronically; create jobs for disadvantaged people; and provide soft loans for them to boost production, thus ensuring sustainable poverty reduction.
