Recorded achievements
In 2023, Ninh Binh faced numerous difficulties such as the disruption of supply chains, decreasing orders, rising input prices and increasing competitiveness pressure. But, the province carried out a number of measures to spur economic growth, promote resources for economic development and remove difficulties for firms. Thanks to these efforts, the province's GRPD expanded by 7.27%, higher than the average of the whole country.
In particular, the service sector saw strong performance. The tourism sector's GRDP rose by 13.25% from the previous year.
Socio-cultural affairs witnessed progress. Social welfare has been ensured while the spiritual and material lives of local people have been improved.
Investment attraction has been stepped up and reaped fruits. National defence has been enhanced while political security and social order have been guaranteed.
Notably, in 2023, the province focused on developing synchronic transport infrastructure. Numerous works and projects were constructed or completed.
The industry sector encountered numerous difficulties due to high prices of materials and decreasing global demand. However, the sector saw recovery in year-end months, helping it to achieve positive growth of 1.51% from the previous year.
According to Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc, right at the beginning of 2023, the provincial People's Committee issued and implemented the yearly working programme with 198 key and extraordinary tasks.
The provincial People's Committee tightened the discipline and enhance the effectiveness of direction, governing and operation of the administration apparatus at all levels.
Persisting with the goal of "Green, sustainable and harmonious development"
In 2024, Ninh Binh needs to gear up in an effort to fulfill tasks of socio-economic development for five years (2021-2025) and goals set by the 22nd provincial Party Congress.
The province has set some key tasks and solutions to achieve the targets: GRDP growth of 7.6%, state budget collection of 18.61 trillion VND, export turnover of 3.25 billion USD, and 7.5 million tourists.
Ngoc elaborated that, according to the 22nd provincial Party Congress's Resolution, Ninh Binh is consistent with the goal of boosting socio-economic development in a "green, sustainable and harmonious" direction.
Accordingly, the province will fully tap potential, unique values of history and culture of the ancient capital as well as outstanding values of the Trang An world natural and cultural heritage for socio-economic development.
While analysing advantages and disadvantages faced by Ninh Binh, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Doan Minh Huan stressed that the provincial People's Committee, local administrations at all levels and sectors need to focus on expediting tasks of luring investment; restructuring sectors and regions; preserving and promoting values of rural areas in the process of urbanisation and building new-style rural areas as well as building an administration model for a heritage city.
With its convenient geological location, Ninh Binh boasts great opportunities to boost socio-economic and cultural exchanges with cities and provinces in the Red River Delta and the northern coastal region.
Moreover, Ninh Binh holds a strategic location in the coastal corridor that aims to boost economic activities for fast and sustainable growth.
These are foundations and momentum for Ninh Binh to fulfill the set targets, contributing to the development of the province and the whole country.
