The department has asked local firms to stockpile essential goods, deploy the price stabilisation and promotion programme, connect supply-demand to boost consumption of agricultural products in rural and mountainous area, enhance inspections of the market, prevent smuggling and trade frauds, and ensure food safety.
Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Duong Duc Dang said local enterprises have devised plans to serve the demand for commodities during Tet. They have joined the price stabilisation and promotion programme with stable prices or offering 5-10% discounts.
It is forecast that the consumption of goods will increase by 10% from last year. In order to ensure stable and sufficient supply of goods supply, the department will continue to keep a close watch on market developments to prevent the shortage of commodities and hike prices, especially for essential items.
The department has also paid heed to organizing supply-demand connecting activities; and cooperating with localities in the country to hold trade promotion activities to boost the consumption of local products, thus creating stable supply of goods for local people.
It will focus on implementing the national sale promotion programme, the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritise Vietnamese goods" and the programme "Bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas and industrial zones" in combination with discount programmes.
Local firms are requested to boost trade promotion and launch programmes to stimulate consumption.
The department also created favourable conditions and assist firms to take part in price stabilisation and promotion programmes and mobile sale booths in a bid to supply commodities to local people in rural and mountainous area or disadvantaged people.
Besides, the department will cooperate with authorized agencies to carry out inspections over food hygiene and product quality, and the listing of prices of goods.
