Visiting online museums
Digitalising museums is an evitable trend in order to meet the requirements of development. Amid difficulties, the Ninh Binh Museum has carried a project on building an information management system and a database related to outstanding artifacts serving the preservation work and promoting cultural values.
With support of technology such as smart phones and computers, the Ninh Binh Museum can provide visitors with online tours to see artifacts and cultural heritages via 3D images and virtual voice-over.
Nearly 1,000 artifacts and documents have been digitised serving the preservation work and introducing to visitors on in the digital space.
Nguyen Thi Yen, a local resident in Ninh Binh city, said digitalising artifacts helps visitors to learn about their historical values without a guide.
Nguyen Xuan Khang, Director of the Ninh Binh Museum, said the digitisation of artifacts helps the public not only easily discover heritages and artifacts items but also support the preservation and management work.
At the same time, the digitisation has also assisted researchers and experts in studying the information, images and artifacts faster and more scientifically.
In 2023, the museum received and served over 19,700 visitors, including 234 international guests. Most of them used QR codes to access information related to artifacts and documents.
Bringing heritages closer to people
In 2023, the provincial Department of Culture and Sports began the digitalisation and building of database for sorting, managing, and storing tangible and intangible heritages in the province.
The department has built database of virtual space for 49 recognised provincial historical relic sites.
In the time to come, the department will suggest the provincial People's Committee to direct relevant departments, sectors and localities to speed up the digitalisation of tangible and intangible heritages in an attempt to fulfill the Government's programme ondigitalising Vietnam's cultural heritages in the 2021-2030 period.
The sector will also pay attention to taking inventory of heritages and relic sites in the province into its management software and introducing on the provincial smart tourism portal in a bid to build a national database of cultural heritages on the digital platform, thus serving the archive, management, research and preservation of heritages.
Ninh Binh will continue to improve the quality of human resources, allocate regular expenses, build and operate the digital archive system, machines and equipment serving the digitalization.
