Ninh Binh convenes Party Congress for 2015-2020

Addressing the congress, Politburo member and Chairman of theVietnamese Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan spoke highly of achievements made by the province and local people in the past term.He pointed out limitations and shortcomings the province has been encountering and identified some core matters for the Provincial Party Congress to come up with solutions to achievingfast and sustainable development for the locality.  He urged the congress to select local outstanding representatives to attend the upcoming 12th National Party Congress.

During the opening session, the 20th provincial Party Committee's Political Report, delivered by Vice Secretary Nguyen TienThanh, said the province's gross domestic products (GDP) leaped11.7percent during 2010-2015.

Industrial production saw strong performance with average production value topped 20.2 percent, much higher than targeted figure of 4.2 percent. Total industry- construction production value has so far this year reached 30.7 trillion VND, 2.3 times higher than that in 2010.

The local economy has shifted strongly towards services-tourism, industry-construction. Party building and political system strengthening have seen new, positive changes, he added.

During the 2015-2020 tenure, the provincial Party Committee will focus on three strategic initiatives that cover infrastructure and tourism -service, improving administrative reforms, attracting investment, trainning workforce in tandem with new-style rural construction, national defence and military tasks in the new context, and building the Party and a strong, healthy political system.

The Congress will run through September24.
