Ninh Binh consistent with export target of 2.2 billion USD in 2020

According to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade's statistics, in the first half of 2020, the province's total export turnover was almost 1.12 billion USD, down 4.5 percent from the same period last year.

Some products achieved high export turnover, including  cement and clinker with 188.6 million USD; garments and textiles, 116.8 million USD; cameras and telephone components, 386.1 million USD; footwear, 185.8 million USD; and electronic components, over 39 million USD.

Asian markets were the biggest importers of Ninh Binh with 795.3 million USD, accounting for 71.2 percent of the total revenue. They were followed by American markets with 193.2 million USD (17.3 percent); Europe with 84.9 million USD (7.6 percent), and Africa with 13.4 million USD (1.2 percent).

The department's leaders said with the concerted efforts in expanding markets and enhancing trade promotion and exports by the Government, ministries, localities and businesses, the province's total export revenues in the whole year would not decrease like in the first half of 2020. 

The enforcement of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in the remaining months of 2020 would help Vietnam's economy recover, and the country expects to boost exports to its large markets where the COVID-19 pandemic is put under control.

Therefore, the department is consistent with the export target of 2.2 billion USD in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 4.7 percent.

To reach the target, the Department of Industry and Trade suggested the provincial People's Committee approve a draft plan to implement the EVFTA in the province. It is also working on a plan to develop e-commerce in the 2021-2025 period.

At the same time, the department organised a meeting to introduce the EVFTA's regulations to local exporters.

It will also continue to guide enterprises to update their e-files and attach files on eCosys; popularise origin rules and prepare conditions for providing C/O with the EUR1 form for businesses exporting products to the EU market as regulated in the EVFTA.
