Two COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Ninh Binh, becoming the first infections detected in the province since the fourth wave of outbreaks hit the country on April, 27, the provincial Department of Health said on May 19.
The two cases, Patients 4,692 and 4,693, reside in Ninh Binh city and Kim Son district, respectively. They had previously taken care of their relatives treated at a Hanoi-based facility of the K Hospital - one of the country's COVID-19 hotspots.
They had been previously quarantined in Hanoi and then transferred to Ninh Binh for continued quarantine together with seven others after testing negative to coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 three times.
Shortly after arriving at the Ninh Binh General Hospital, all of the nine people had samples tested and two of them showed positive results.
These two new patients are locally-transmitted cases with links to the K Hospital, but they have been quarantined so there is a low risk of infection in the community.
