Ninh Binh chairman, Germany ambassador discuss bear preservation

At the working session, the ambassador expressed his surprise to see activities of the Bear Sanctuary in Ninh Binh.

After one year, the first phase construction of the centre has been completed on over 8 acres accommodating up to 44 bears, including a quarantine station, a bear house, observation desks, a veterinary station and more.

This is a project initiated by Four Paws organization in Ninh Binh province.

The Ninh Binh Bear Sanctuary has initially rescued and took care of the first bears which were illegally kept in the province.

MrBerger hoped that the province's authorities continue to creating favorable condition to assist Four Paws experts in rescuing bears in the locality and nationwide and bringing them to this Sanctuary for preservation.

Ninh Binh should work to develop tours to the bear sanctuary to attract more visitors to the locality, he suggested.

He said he will help introduce and connect Germany travel agencies to bring more guests to NinhBinh.

ChairmanDienthanked the guest's recommendation, and said that the locals' awareness of protecting wild animals has been lifted over the past few years, especially in protecting primates and bear.

Ninh Binh authorities always pay attention to make Bear Sanctuary activities as part of the province's program of breeding wild animals.

He also spoke highly of Four Paws experts' efforts in rescuing and protecting bears.

In the coming time, the province continues mobilizing local people to voluntarily hand over the remaining bears to the sanctuary, he noted.

It will work to raising people's awareness of the preservation of wild animals, especially bears, by developing tours to the Bear Sanctuary and disseminating the information about the importance of wild animals, Dien said.
