As a region of cultural and historical traditions, Ninh Binh province is always busy with festivals when the spring comes. These festivals do not only serve the religious demand for local people but also attract tourists from all parts of the country as well.
Ninh Binh busy with spring festivals
On the first days of the Lunar New Year, tens of thousands of Buddhist followers and people from provinces and cities nationwide have flocked to Ninh Binh to attend Bai Dinh pagoda festival.
The Bai Dinh pagoda festival kicks off onthe sixth day of the Lunar New Year every year. Itis one of the biggest festivals in the north region.Local cultural features and customs have been maintained well during the festival. Besides, art and cultural activities have been organised.
In addition to beautiful andscapes, Ninh Binh is also home to 1,800 historical and cultural relic sites which are linked with 300 traditional festivals.
Most festivals are organised solemnly. A series of traditional rituals and ceremonies are maintained while cultural, art and sport activities are held in an attempt to provide diverse community activities for participants.
Infrastructure of historical and cultural relic sites have been built and improved, thus helping to build an advanced culture of Vietnam imbued with national identity in the period of international integration.

Spring festivals have helped enrich the spiritual life for local people. The organisation and management of these festivals have contributed to reenacting the brave history of the nation and promoting cultural values of Vietnam. At the same time, they have created new and attractive tourism products, thereby luring more domestic and foreign visitors to Ninh Binh.
