Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has asked localities to build production plans, focusing on producing specialty products in a bid to ensure the well-balance of crop rotations, and minimise the impacts on the consumption of farm produce.
In the recent times, the quality of agricultural products across the province has been ensured with stable prices and quantity. There have been no inventories of agricultural products.
Due attention has been paid to trade promotion programmes. The Center for High-tech Agriculture and Trade Promotion under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has upheld its role in connecting, promoting, and stepping up the consumption of agricultural products.
Booths where promote and sell local specialties as well as other agricultural products of the province have become a popular destination for local consumers.
Ninh Binh's famous specialties are cobitidae of Yen Hoa commune (Yen Mo district); tiny shrimp sauce of Gia Vien district; organic vegetables of Khanh Thanh agriculture cooperative (Yen Khanh district); organic pork, and clean rice.
Besides, the Divisions of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Division for Economic Affairs of districts and cities have disseminated information about the safety practices in manufacturing and producing agricultural products, widely publish the list of business households and firms meeting the requirements of safe agricultural production.
The province has organised trade fairs to connect local farmers, business households and firms with consumers and enterprises in selling farm produce.
Competent agencies have worked hard to support local farmers, households and firms in developing markets, reducing difficulties and providing a legal corridor in the market.
However, the consumption of local agricultural products at present and in the long term still faces some challenges, such as the weak cooperation between firms, farmers and households and the lack of concentrated and large-scale zones for agricultural farming.
The reasons were that local firms have failed to pay due attention to quality management procedures, while the products' design, quantity and quality do not meet the demand of firms and the market. There are a few agricultural products that got VietGap, Global Gap and ISO certificates. Many individuals and organisation working in the agriculture sector are unable to join the agricultural product supply chains or export due to their legal status.
To boost the consumption of agricultural products, Ninh Binh has directed competent agencies to support firms in getting access to the Government and the province's preferential credit package.
For the long term, businesses are encouraged to renovate technologies in a bid to provide diverse products with low prices, thus improving their competitiveness.
The province has worked to stepping up the processing industry to increase value for local agricultural products. The processing industry is defined as a development trend for firms, and it would open up opportunities for enterprises to restructure production in the coming time.
At the same time, the province would support, consult and establish procedures of quality management for agricultural products and origin traceability for VietGAP, QR, GlobalGAP and ISO products.
Businesses are encouraged to apply high technologies in manufacturing, processing and preserving agricultural products.
The province will maintain the operation of the agricultural product booth, which serves as a place to promote, advertise agricultural products of the province and those of other provinces, making it an effective distribution and consumption channel of farm produce.
