Ninh Binh artists named People's Artist and Meritorious Artist

They included artist Mai Thi Thuy, Vice Director of the Ninh Binh Cheo Opera Theatre, Mai The Tuong and Tran Thi Dieu artists who also worked in the Ninh Binh Cheo Opera Theatre.

They are among 102 artists who got the People's Artist title and 377 others who were presented the Meritorious Artist title by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at a ceremony held on January 10 at the Hanoi Opera House.

State President Truong Tan Sangand Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended the event, among others.

The People's Artist title and the Meritorious Artist title are bestowed to the artists who stand out in the fields of music, film, architecture, dance, fine arts, photography, theatre, folk culture, literature and broadcasting.

The titles were awarded as the recognition of the Party and State for the artists' patriotism and dedication to their work, as well as their talent and contributions to the development of the country's revolutionary arts.

To date, some 265 artists have been honoured with the People's Artist title and 1,602 with the Meritorious Artist title in different age groups working in various fields of the cultural sector.
