Diverse consumption markets
The fourth wave of COVID-19 infections has made great impacts on society and many cooperatives have faced difficulties in selling their products.
To quickly adapt to the situation, a number of agricultural cooperatives have built their own websites and joined e-commerce platforms.
Tao Viet hi-tech agriculture cooperative in Dong Son commune, Tam Diep city, is farming spirulina on an area of 1,000 square meters with a monthly output of 800 kilogrammes. Thereby, the cooperative needs a stable market to sell its products.
In an attempt to avoid disruption in its production chain caused by COVID-19, the Tao Viet cooperative has actively sought markets by advestising and trading their products on social networks and e-commerce platforms like facebook and zalo.
Since 2020, Tao Viet's products have been regularly sold on the domestic market. In particular, by joining social networks and e-commerce platforms, it has accessed retail outlets and consumers.
Similarly, Yen Hoa cooperative which supplies saplings and animals has boosted the application of hi-tech into consuming, building brand, and advertising its products.
The cooperative has successfully signed a contract on supplying and consuming Misgurnus anguillicaudatuscas with a business in neighbouring Nam Dinh province. Its product "Misgurnus anguillicaudatuscas" has been rated as a four-star OCOP product.
Besides, the cooperative has actively taken part in events and trade fairs to promote their agricultural products in the province and nationwide.
Currently, Yen Hoa cooperative's products are sold on some e-commerce platforms like Postmart, Voso and Vietnam Cooperative Alliance's electronic portal.
Providing training courses on digital transformation for cooperative members
Chairwoman of Ninh Binh's Cooperative Alliance Le Thi Tam said the province now has 215 agricultural service cooperatives and 114 agricultural product trading cooperatives. In this context, the alliance has defined that digital transformation is a very important task.
In recent years, the alliance has enhanced the dissemination of information about digital transformation and provided training courses for its members, helping them to apply technology in production, selling products, and accessing markets, towards sustainable development.
However, the application of digital technology in production and developing value chains of many cooperatives remains simple. The reason is their poor ability to access technology and science.
Besides, these cooperatives are unable to get full information about the markets while there remains a lack of connection with local supermarkets, exporters.
A lack of big investments in hi-technology is another weakness of these cooperatives.
In the coming time, the Ninh Binh Cooperative Alliance will continue to provide training courses on digital transformation for them.
Besides, it will review operations of these cooperatives, then choose some of them to take part in digital transformation.
In addition, local cooperatives are requested to build their brands and connections in order to receive full support policies and related mechanisms.
