The northern province of Ninh Binh has verified, rated, and recognised 14 local products as "One Commune, One Product (OCOP)" goods this year, according to the Deparment of Rural Development.
To date, Ninh Binh has completed a evaluation and classification process for 14 products under the national's One Commune, One Product (OCOP) program. Most of 14 OCOP products achieving 3-star rating and above.
In details, the aforementioned OCOP products are Golden tea (Trà hoa vàng Mạn Hảo); green tea (Trà Xanh Tâm An Nguyên); Cooked Dojo loach (Chạch sụn kho niêu đất), (shrimp sauce (Mắm tép Trang Quyết), Fried Rice (Cơm cháy Xích thổ), Orgarnic salt (Muối ngâm chân Sinh Dược)….
OCOP products are made from a combination of local resources, traditional culture, and advanced technology, which facilitates the development of diverse products with better quality and packaging, and the ability to trace product origin.
The OCOP was initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2008, based on Japan's "One Village, One Product" and Thailand's "One Town, One Product" programs. It is an economic development program for rural areas and focuses on increasing internal power and values, and is also to help with the national target program on new-style rural area building.
