From July 14 to 17, the 10th session of the 13th People's Council of Ninh Binh assessed the province's socio-economic situation in the first half of 2014 and defined major tasks for the rest of the year, and passed many important Resolutions. Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, Secretary of Ninh Binh provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh attended the session.
In the first six months, the province achieved a GDP growth of 8.2 percent, a considerable increase compared to those of neighboring provinces in the region. Thanks to realizing incentives for investment and easing difficulties in business activity, industrial production value reached nearly 13 trillion VND, an increase of 19 percent over the last year. Export and import revenue saw a year-on-year rise of 20.4 percent; total investment capital reached nearly 9 trillion, an increase of 16 percent against same period last year. The total budget revenue reached 1.261 trillion VND, up 5.3 percent compared to the same period last year.Trade and services met requirements of production and life. Synchronous measures were implemented to accelerate the Rural development program; material and spiritual life of the people improved, social welfare, national defense and security maintained.
In May, Ninh Binh province in coordination with the Vietnam Buddhist Shangha successfully organized UN VESAK, leaving a good impression in the mind of both domestic and international friends. In particular, on June 23, Trang An landscape complex was officially recognized as a world cultural and natural heritage by UNESCO. The honor is not only a great pride of Vietnamese people in general and Ninh Binh people in particular but also opens up opportunities for Ninh Binh in the process of intergration and development.
The People's Council reach a consensus on the tasks for the last six months of 2014: Continueing to implement socio - economic development
objectives, tasks and solutions; removing difficulties to boost business activity; improving investment climate, fostering trade promotion and market expansion; accelerating the implementation of key projects; strengthening state management of natural resources, environment, tourism, investment and construction; and implementing synchronous measures to restructure the agricultural sector, thus enhancing the building of new rural program. Besides, efforts will be focused on cultural development, raising the quality of education for all; strengthening national defence, social and political security, maintaining a stable environment for business; and fulfilling the 2014 socio-economic development plan successfully.
