The festival drew the participation of about 600 visually impaired and hearing-impaired students from 14 provinces and cities across the country.
The participants, divided into the age groups of 16-18, 13-15 and under 13, competed in six events including football, athletics, tug-of-war, chess, table tennis and badminton.
The organising board will present 86 sets of medals to teams and athletes for strong performances during the competition.
The biennial event offers a good opportunity for students with disabilities to exchange experiences. It also aims to help them find meaning in life, encourage hope and integrate into the community.
After the opening ceremony, the exciting first football match took place. The team from Thai Nguyen defeated Dong Nai 1-0.
The 2013 National Disabled Sports Festival lasts until December 8.
