Delivering the closing speech, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said the session had been a success thanks to the deputies' high sense of solidarity and responsibility to the public.
He underscored that the sixth session was of utmost importance, as lawmakers passed the revised constitution, decided on key socio-economic tasks and developed the State budget for 2014 and the tasks ahead in the 2011-2015 development plan.
Chairman Hung said the amended constitution is the product of the comprehensive doi moi (renewal) period, and that it meets the requirements of national construction and defence and international integration in the new situation.
Legislators also passed eight laws and gave feedback on another 10 bills. The adoption of laws, especially the revised Land Law, is crucial to perfecting the legal system, giving a boost to socio-economic progression and global integration.
The NA adopted several resolutions, including one on the supplementary issuance and allocation of Government bonds for the 2014-2016 period, another on the management of planning, construction and operation of hydropower plants and one on strengthening crime control measures.
Also during the session, the NA appointed additional lawmakers to NA bodies and approved the prime minister's proposal on appointing and relieving some cabinet members.Earlier the same day, deputies passed resolutions on the construction of Ho Chi Minh Road, the enforcement of legal regulations and health insurance.
