UNICEF Chief Representative in Vietnam Lotta Sylwander presented the award to the NA leader at a ceremony in Hanoi on February 27.
Speaking highly of the assistance given by UNICEF to improve childcare and protection in Vietnam, NA Vice Chairwoman Ngan said that she hopes the fund will further its important role in co-ordinating with other UN organisations to continue supporting Vietnam in the field.
She stressed that Vietnam always attaches importance to caring for and protecting children and considers this one of the country's key priorities.
Lotta Sylwander praised the NA Vice Chairwoman for her contributions to promoting the enforcement of child rights in Vietnam, expressing her hope that Ngan will further contribute to the field in the future.
The mortality rate of children in the country dropped to 16 % in 2010 from 36.7 % a decade earlier.
