In the morning, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son answered deputies' queries on emerging issues including the status of measures to prevent negative impacts of online games and explicit sites; the State management over information, communication, and advertising and information safety and security, among other issues.
Concluding for the Minister of Information and Communications, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung urged the Ministry to improve the capacity of its staff and work quickly to find solutions for issues raised by the deputies.
He also urged for closer co-ordination between the authorities, at all levels, from different branches of the ministry and the press so that the press can access authentic information, as well as play an active role in the fight against corruption and wastefulness whilst proactively countering distorted information from hostile forces.
Also at the morning session, Chief Judge of the Vietnam Supreme People's Court, Truong Hoa Binh directly answered questions by 19 deputies from 16 provinces and cities on the quality of the trials, especially of corruption cases; the capacity of judges in settling cases; responsibility for wrongful judgments and the rise of juvenile crime.
NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung urged the courts to build a strong contingent of employees with good professional ethics and skills stating that the sector should do its utmost to improve the quality of judgment, avoid unfair trials and minimise overdue cases. On the same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung presented a report on emerging issues based on Q&A sessions with ministers and heads of sectors.
PM Dung reported on the socio-economic situation and the management leadership of the 2014 socio-economic development plan. Regarding the leadership of the management and operation of the 2014 socio-economic development plan, he emphasised the need to achieve inflation control, macroeconomic stability and appropriate growth.
The leader said that the Government would effectively manage fiscal and monetary policies as well as prices of State-regulated goods and services in order to support production and business, curb inflation and maintain macroeconomic stability in the short and medium terms.
Application of advanced scientific technology in agriculture and the formation of value chains will be encouraged, PM Dung said, stressing that steps will be taken to realise the ongoing project to restructure agriculture and build new-style rural areas.
Regarding water reservoirs, he said the Government has asked relevant sectors and branches to strengthen safety inspections and has reinforced the responsibility of investors in providing maintenance and upgrades. For the 2014-2015 period, capital allocation for upgrading and repairing at-risk-reservoirs will be reviewed.
In the report, PM Dung also touched on social issues including poverty reduction in ethnic group-inhabited areas, hospital overcrowding and medical ethics.
Concluding, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung stressed that the issues raised in Q&A sessions need to be addressed promptly. He commented that ministers, heads of sectors and deputies have been frank about what is yet to be done and worked well together in seeking solutions.
