The senior legislator spoke highly of the Embassy's attainments, saying that the political diplomacy tasks have paved the way for boosting economic diplomacy, cross-cultural exchanges and tourism.
NA Chairwoman Ngan also informed the Embassy staff and OVs on the current domestic situation and the sixth plenum of the Party Central Committee, which showed good signs of socio-economic development with macro-economic stability and ensured social welfare; as well as the results of the recently concluded fourth session of the 14th NA.
At this session, the NA adopted the Law on amendments and supplements to certain articles of the Law on Overseas Representative Missions of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, which will take effect from July 1, 2018.
She emphasised that the Party, State and National Assembly's effective diplomatic activities have helped to raise Vietnam's international and regional profile.
The NA Chairwoman also expressed her hope that the overseas Vietnamese community in Singapore would better integrate into the local society, follow the host country's laws and contribute to strengthening the friendship and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Singapore.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties on August 1, 1973, the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore have progressed effectively, founded on the pillars of politics; economy; national defence-security; education, law, health care, culture-arts-sports; and cooperation at regional and international forums.
This is the first visit to Singapore by a senior Vietnamese legislator for 14 years since the previous trip by NA Chairman Nguyen Van An in 2003.
The visit is an important diplomatic activity to strengthen the Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership, towards celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
