Politburo member, Minister of Public Security Gen. To Lam on February 19 attended the launching ceremony of tree planting festival held by the Ministry of Public Security in the northern province of Ninh Binh.

Attending the ceremony were leaders of ministries, agencies, units and Departments of Public Security of some localities as well as officials of Ninh Binh.

Addressing the ceremony, Gen. To Lam said that implementing the Prime Minister's directive on the organisation of the tree planting festival and strengthening forest protection and development; and responding to a programme to plant 1 billion trees initiated by the PM, the Ministry of Public Security has launched various activities to grow trees and called officers and soldiers to actively engage in tree planting and raise their awareness of protecting forests.
At the event, the Ministry of Public Security handed over seedlings, equipment serving fire prevention and control, personal protective equipment to the public security forces of Ninh Binh province and Kim Son, Gia Vien and Yen Khanh districts.

Following the ceremony, the minister and participants planted trees inside the campus of the provincial Department of Public Security.
Earlier, Lam and his delegation offered incense at King Dinh Tien Hoang and King Le Dai Hanh Temples and planted trees at the Hoa Lu ancient capital.
In the 2021-2023 period, Ninh Binh planted more than 3.2 million trees and nearly 1,200 hectares of forests, fulfilling the set targets.
At the launching ceremony, public security officers and soldiers in the province planted 5,000 trees.
