Politburo member and permanent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Secretariat, Dinh The Huynh made this remark while attending a conference in Hanoi on January 5 to review the operation of the CPVCC Commission for Mass Mobilisation in 2016 and launch its tasks for 2017.
He applauded positive achievements the Commission had gained over the past year, particularly in successfully implementing resolutions and instructions of the CPVCC, the Politburo and the Secretariat.
Politburo member Huynh also emphasised that in the year ahead, the Commission should promote its role in building a strong and transparent Party and administration, and strengthening people's trust in the Party and authorities at all levels, particularly contributing to effectively implementing the CPVCC fourth Plenum, 12th tenure Resolution on Party building and rectification, as well as the Politburo's Directive 05, which encourages the entire Party, people and army to follow President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; and preventing and curbing ideological, ethical and lifestyle degradation, as well as the manifestation of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" inside the Party.
The agency should also boost the implementation of emulation movements on building a cultural lifestyle and rural areas while encouraging people to join hands to eliminate hunger, reduce poverty and maintain security and social order in their localities, he noted.
In her speech, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC's Commission for Mass Mobilisation, Truong Thi Mai noted that the emulation movement, themed 'Effective mobilisation at all levels', has significantly contributed over recent years to promoting the ownership and proactivity of the entire people; mobilised a large number of resources, created positive changes in socio-economy, defence - security and contributed to building various political systems.
Over recent years, the Party committees and branches of government at all levels have made specific regulations on implementing the people's right of monitoring Party organisations and members at the grassroots level; organised periodic dialogues with people; promoted administrative reforms; and focused on solving pressing issues while ensuring the legitimate rights of the people and strengthening the close ties between the committees with the government and people, she added.
On the occasion, the Commission awarded outstanding individuals and collectives for their contributions to the work of social mobilisation in 2016.
