In late May, a vast area of Tam Coc rice field turns into brilliant yellow color. A vivid artwork depicting a young boy playing the flute on the back of buffalo (called Muc dong thoi sao) becomes eye-catching.

Previously, Ninh Binh impressed visitors with different artworks on the Tam Coc rice field such as a giant flag-shape rice field or carps looking at the moon in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
This year, Tam Coc's rice field has been cultivated into a picture depicting a young boy playing flute on the back of buffalo (Muc dong thoi sao).
The artwork is inspired by a famous Dong Ho folk painting of Vietnam, especially in the northern of Tonkin.
The Tam Coc rice field has been named as the most captivating rice field in Vietnam. There is a small stream flows around 18 hectares.
In late May and early June, the Tam Coc rice field looks like a giant carpet and attracts a large numbers of visitors.
Hoang Thanh Phong, a representative of Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourist area management board, said "Muc Dong thoi sao" is the famous folk painting of Vietnam and it is familiar to Vietnamese people. It depicts a peaceful rural area and wishes of favourable weather conditions and bumper crops for farmers.

The green colour of unripe rice and yellow colour of ripe rice are used create a unique artwork in the most captivating rice field of Vietnam, Phong added.
The artwork "Muc dong thoi sao" is a highlight of the Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2024.
The tourism week is scheduled to take place from June 1-8 with diverse activities.
The opening ceremony will start at 8 pm on June 1 at Dong Gung coach station in Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourist area.
