The Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group convened its second meeting in the northern province of Ninh Binh on November 12.

Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee's Organisation Commission, and Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarian Group, chaired the meeting.
Delegates heard a report on the group's performance in 2022 and orientations for next year.
In 2022, the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group organised numerous activities and exchanged delegations, thus stepping up cooperation and information sharing between the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians Group and the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association; and promoting people-to-people exchanges to enhance mutual trust and understanding.
At the same time, the group has also promoted cooperation between localities in developing agriculture and forestry; and connected Japanese localities and enterprises with Vietnamese counterparts.
In 2023, the group will work with relevant agencies of Vietnam and Japan to organise activities marking the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries; promote the exchange of high-ranking delegations; and coordinate with Japanese parliamentarians to boost cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, health care and education.
Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio stressed that the activities of the group have reaped important results, helping to step up the relationships between Japan and Vietnam to a new height.
The ambassador expected that members of the group would uphold the tradition and make positive contributions to enhacing the intensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

In her speech, Mai expressed her hope that the group would continue to promoting its role and advantages to make contributions to foreign affairs of the National Assembly, as well as the Vietnam - Japan intensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia.
Also at the meeting, Secretary of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha briefed about the province's socio-economic situation in 2022, efforts to call for Japanese investment, and cooperative relations between Ninh Binh and Japanese localities such as Saiki city in Oita prefecture and Tokyo capital city.
Ha hoped that members of the group, the Japanese ambassador, ministries, sectors and agencies would create favourable conditions for Ninh Binh to connect and establish friendship relations with Japanese localities and investors, especially in the fields of real estate, tourism, elderly healthcare service, hi-tech agriculture, electronic assembly, heritage conservation, and hi-quality human resources training.
Ninh Binh also wants to promote cultural exchanges in a bid to boost mutual understanding and friendship between people of the two countries, Ha added.
