This will deepen the two countries' strategic partnership which was set up during an Italy visit by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in January, 2013, Renzi told the Party chief in Hanoi on June 9.
The Italian PM highly valued Vietnam's modernisation achievements, as well as the country's role and position in the world.
He informed the host of Italy's recent developments while affirming the importance of co-operation and its potential between the two countries.
For his part, Party General Secretary Trong thanked the Italian people for their solidarity and support for Vietnam in the past as well as at the present.
He said he is pleased with the development in bilateral ties and hopes for fresh breakthroughs, particularly in investment, trade, and education-training.
He said he wishes to further relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Italian political parties, including the Democratic Party, as well as the two countries' law-making bodies.

On recent developments in the East Sea, General Secretary Trong expressed his thanks for statements and articles by Italian congressmen, scholars and friendship organisations, which objectively reflected the situation, expressed concerns over tensions at sea and supported Vietnam's peaceful measures in accordance with international law.
