The processing and manufacturing industry led the charge, with the largest contribution to overall production growth of any sector.
Several industries recorded significant growth over the same period last year, such as textiles with a 19.9% increase, leather and leather products (16.3%), motor vehicles (12.9%) and apparel, with an increase in production of 11.3%.
However, the production of some industries experienced declines, including metal, coal and mining.
During the ten month period, the IIP in Quang Ngai and Vinh Phuc provices made the biggest gains, at 21% and 17% respectively. Production in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City increased more slowly at 4.4% and 5.9%, respectively.
Hiring by the industrial sector rose by 4.4% year on year. Hiring by foreign-invested and private enterprises increased by 8.6% and 1.3%, respectively, while that of State-owned enterprises decreased by 1.3%.
