The UNESCO's recognition of Vietnam's first ancestors' worshiping ritual on December 6, 2012 has been an honor and pride of Vietnamese people because this ritual, over the past 4,000 years, has been playing a vital role in their spiritual life, and an integral part for Vietnamese people at home and abroad.
Addressing the ceremony, State President Truong Tan Sang stressed that the Hung Kings are the fathers of the Vietnamese nation, who had helped build the first state of Vietnam. The Hung Kings worshipping ritual has become a cultural identity, demonstrating Vietnamese people's deep gratitude to their ancestors. Thefore, wherever they are and whatever they do, Vietnamese people always look towards to their ancestors with respect and gratitude.
The State President also added that the ritual is not only a spiritual prayer for peace and prosperity for the nation and people, but also a significant event to help consolidate solidarity among Vietnamese community.
After the certificate handover ceremony, the 2013 Hung Kings Temple Festival was kicked off with an imposing art program including 3 parts, namely "The race of Fairy and Dragon-Sacred Word of "Compatriots"", "Spiritual Itinerary to the Root, Gratitude to the National Forefathers of Hung Kings", and "Phu Tho-Spring of Mountains and Rivers".
As planned, the 2013 Hung Kings Temple Festival will take place from April 13th to 19th (the 4th to 10th of March in lunar calendar) with various typical activities./.
