Hoa Lu Festival 2019 opens

Secretary of theParty Central Committee(PCC) and Head of the PCC Organisation Commission,Pham Minh Chinh; Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Finance Dinh Tien Dung, Former Deputy minister of Public security Nguyen Van Hieu attended the event along with top leaders and representatives from departments and agencies in Ninh Binh.

This year's festival marks the 1,051th year since Dinh Bo Linh, who was crowned King Dinh Tien Hoang, defeated 12 warlords to unite the country and named it Dai Co Viet. 

During his openning ceremony speech, Chairman of Ninh Binh provincial peoples committee Dinh Van Dien said that annual Hoa Lu Festival is an opportunity to commenmorate the king and national hero Dinh Tien Hoang, and Le Hoan.

During the three-day festival, there will be many other cultural and sport activities, including a requiem, a temple gate-opening ceremony, and displays of coloured lanterns and flower garlands, and performance of folk games.

Among the highlights of the festival is a water-carrying procession from the Hoang Long River to the King Dinh Temple in the early morning of the same day.

The festival contributes to preserving and upholding the country's traditional cultural values, and promoting the locality's tourism potential and strengths as well.

The festival lasts from April 13 to 15.
