A grand requiem and a festival of flower garlands and coloured lanterns were organised at the special national relic site of Hoa Lu ancient capital in Ninh Binh province on April 25 night to pray for peace for the nation and happiness for the people.

The events, hosted by the Executive Board of the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, saw the participation of Ninh Binh's leaders and thousands of Buddhist monks, nuns and followers and local people.
The requiem and festival aimed to commemorate the contributions of King Dinh Tien Hoang and ancestors and to pray for peace, prosperity and happiness for the whole country.
After the rituals, the province's leaders, delegates, Buddhist monks, nuns and followers and tourists floated flower garlants and coloured lanterns on Sao Khe River.
The requiem and festival were parts of the Hoa Lu Festival 2023, which is held annually in the third lunar month.
