"Long Thanh will lachen", a 28 minute report which aired on Germany's ARD channel a year ago, received the nomination just a day before Agent Orange Day (August 10th).
The report is among eight nominees for the News and Current Affairs category of this year's Emmy Awards.
The documentary is a story about people suffering the devastating effects of Agent Orange, sprayed by the US army during the war in Vietnam. Generations of Vietnamese still suffer from Agent Orange, like 15-year-old Long Thanh in the film. The boy has energetically lived and overcome daily difficulties.
According to the documentary, about 3 million Vietnamese live with the effects of the herbicide, including 150,000 children with congenital malformations.
The Emmy nomination of "Long Thanh will lachen" is a tribute to the sufferings of generations of Vietnamese victims decades after the war.
The winners of the Emmy Awards will be announced in New York on September 21st./.
