Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had a working session with key leaders on May 18 in Hanoi immediately after the Party Central Committee closed its ninth plenum the same day.
This is the first meeting of key leaders following the Party Central Committee's 9th plenum adopted a number of important issues and introduced personnel for the 15th legislature to elect the positions of President and NA Chairman.
The nomination will be introduced and voted on at the 7th plenary session of the 15th National Assembly, scheduled to begin on May 20.
At the working session, the Party chief congratulated the Party Central Committee for unanimously nominating To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, to the NA for election as the next State President, and Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member and Permanent NA Vice Chairman for NA Chairman.
It can be affirmed that in the first half of the 13th tenure and 2024, the Politburo, the Party Central Committee's Secretariat and key leaders headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong have demonstrated strong performance in maintaining solidarity, unity, and close coordination, successfully leading and directing the implementation of all tasks and coping with numerous arising problems, keeping inflation in check, and ensuring macroeconomic stability and major economic balances.
Positive results were also recorded in defence, security, external relations, Party building and rectification, and anti-corruption fight.
The key leaders outlined tasks for the time ahead and underlined the need to maintain solidarity and unity among the Party, people, and army, finalize the drafting of documents for the 14th National Party Congress, and boost economic growth alongside maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation and ensuring major balances of the national economy.
It is imperative to effectively carry out external activities, ensure a peaceful and stable environment for national development, and combat corruption in order to consolidate people's confidence in the Party, State, and regime, they emphasized.
