The project is estimated to cost about 22,000 EUR (543 billion VND).It aims to prevent flood, supply water for agricultural production in southern areas, and help maintain smooth irrigation network operation. In particularly, the project looks to contribute to protecting the environment and ensuring the safety for local people and their properties during the rainy season.
During the working session, Vice Chairman Phung underscored the importance of the project in promoting the province's socio-economic development.
The project has been well-prepared, he said, adding that socio-economic situation, irrigation situation, and possible impacts had been taken into account when making the project. He expressed his hope that the AFD will soon approve the deployment of the project.
AFD representatives spoke highly of the project-making process and asked Ninh Binh to pay heed especially to specific figures, as well as the operation and management work to optimise the completed facility.
They also stressed the need for the locality to conduct a report on the project's environmental and social impacts.
After the working session, the AFD delegation worked with the consultancy company, the Department of Agriculture and Rural development, and leaders of branches and localities relating to the project.
A comprehensive assessmen of the project will be submitted to the Directors Board of AFD in December 2015 for approval.
