The figure includes 1.85 million who travelled to Vietnam for tourism (up 25.3% year on year), 516,918 who came for business (up 27.2%), 534,102 who came to visit relatives (up 33.1%) and 169,451 who visited for other reasons (up 32.8%).
The inflow of visitors from Hong Kong recorded the highest increase, with 170.2%. This was followed by Germany (114.5%), China (46.9%), Russia (37.4%), Cambodia (32.2%), Spain (30%) and Laos (27.7%).
The number of international tourists who visited Vietnam in April is estimated at 745,980, an increase of 5.11% over March 2014 and a 21.51% increase over April of last year.
Of these, 606,332 arrivals came by air, a year-on-year rise of 20.3%, while 5,956 arrived by sea (a decrease of 69.6%) and 133,693 arrived over land (up 48.2%).
