First Vietnam-Japan security dialogue commences

The event was presided over by Deputy Minister of Public Security Sen. Lieut. Gen. Tran Viet Tan and Deputy Head of the Japan National Police Agency Kanetaka Masahito.

Addressing the function, Tan hailed the event as an important landmark in bilateral co-operation and a step to realise the contents of the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership.

During the dialogue, both sides will share strategic information, professional expertise and ways to augment their ties in a constructive and trustful manner. All are for national security, social safety and order, and crime combat he said.

Masahito lauded what both sides have gained together over the past time, saying that he believes they will reap more from joint security co-ordination.

Receiving Masahito the same day, Minister of Public Security Gen. Tran Dai Quang noted his ministry delegation's visit to Japan and the visit made by President of the Japan National Public Safety Commission to Vietnam this year, when the two nations are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic ties, saying that such actions have pushed bilateral connections to a new level.

Quang sought further bilateral co-ordination against crimes of all kinds for the cause of peace and security in the region and beyond.

The guest vowed to go to all lengths to combat transnational crimes with the ministry, as part of efforts to shore up Vietnam-Japan co-operation.
