The North-South expressway is a key national project that has great impacts on socio-economic development of the whole nation as well as provinces and cities where it runs through.
The Cao Bo-Mai Son sub-project is the only among 11 sub-projects completed on schedule set by the Ministry of Transport for the 2017- 2020 period.
It is invested by Ninh Binh province's Department of Transport and built by Xuan Truong Construction Company.
The sub-project has a total investment capital of over 1.6 trillion VND sourced from Government bonds. Work started in December 2019 and was scheduled to be completed in December 2021.

The sub-project includes an expressway section with a total length of 15.2 kilometers, frontage roads of 22 kilometers, seven flyovers and three tunnels.
In order to provide the best conditions for the construction of the project, Ninh Binh has mobilised the participant of the whole political system and encouraged local residents to give their provoked land plots for clearance site. This is an important foundation for the contractor and investor to accelerate the construction progress and ensure the safety and quality of the sub-project.
According to the provincial Department of Transport, the construction of the main expressway section, frontage roads, tunnels and flyovers have basically completed.
Other work items such as transport safety signs, lightings and erosion-preventing dykes have been constructed to soon complete as scheduled.
Le Trong Thanh, Director of the Department of Transport, said in the past time, the Department of Transport has worked closely with the contractor to fulfill an emulation campaign, aiming to complete the building of the Cao Bo - Mai Son expressway section within 200 days and ensure its quality.
To date, all construction items have been accomplished in 2021. Procedures have been finalized in a bid to put it into operation in the first days of 2022.
So, the Cao Bo-Mai Son sub-project will be the first among 11 others to be finished on schedule set by the Ministry of Transport and the National Assembly in the 2017-2020 period.
Before putting it into operation, the investor is finalizing all documents and procedures to submit to relevant agencies for inspection and approval.
