Deputy PM urges faster progress of North-South expressway project

The North-South expressway project in the period of 2017-2020 includes 11 sub-projects, eight of which are funded by public capital while three others are invested in the public-private partnership form.

So far, 10 out of the 11 sub-projects have been commenced and site clearance for these projects started in the middle of 2019, and has been basically completed.

The North-South Expressway running through Ninh Binh includes two sub-projects: Cao Bo - Mai Son section and Mai Son - National Highway No 45 section with a total length of 24.5km.

The 10.1km Cao Bo - Mai Son section was completed and put into use on February 4, 2022. Now, it is in the process of transferring to the management unit for operation and maintenance.

 The 14.35km Mai Son - National Highway No 45 section has seen its site clearance finished.

Total revoked land area for the two sub-projects is 142.79 ha. To date, 781 out of 784 affected individuals, organisations and households have received compensations, accounting for 97.31 percent.

Ninh Binh's authorities have made efforts to remove difficulties related to providing construction materials for the contractors to expedite the project as scheduled.

Speaking at the working session, participants raised their concerns about  obstacles while carrying out the sub-projects, and suggested numerous solutions to deal with them in the coming time.

In his conclusion, Deputy PM Le Van Thanh underscored the importance of the expressway project to the country's socio-economic development. Therefore, ministries, sectors, and localities need to cooperate and implement the project, ensuring its progress and quality.

Thanh also noted that ministries, sectors and localities need to focus on speeding up the progress, while   ensuring the quality and finalising detail files of the project to send to related ministries, sectors and localities for implementation.

Localities need to set up their own steering committees to implement the project and work with the Ministry of Transport to promptly deal with emerging obstacles.

Thanh also assigned specific tasks and fix the dates for the completion of the sub-projects to each ministry, sector and locality.
