The Deputy PM examined the operation of Gia Vien pumping station and Lac Khoai spillway on Hoang Long dyke in Gia Vien district.
Ha spoke highly of Ninh Binh's active deployment of plans to respond to heavy rains and floods after the typhoon.
Ninh Binh has strictly implemented regulations on the plan to discharge water at the spillway, including the evacuation of local residents when the water level on Hoang Long river reached 4.9 meters. In particular, the local authorities have well carried out the communications work, helping people proactively prepare, not to be panic and strictly abide by the administration's warnings and orders.
Ha stressed that the water levels on Hung Thi, Hong and Nhue rivers are decreasing, while the water levels on Day and Hoang Long rivers tend to see a standstill, resulting a drop in the water levels on some rivers in Ninh Binh. However, authorities must keep a close watch on weather developments and prepare all human resources and equipment to cope with emergency situations.
Local administrations at all levels must mobilise resources to provide enough food, water and medicines for affected residents and ensure safety of their lives and properties, the Deputy PM said.
Local authorities need to step up the communications work to raise local people's awareness of the danger of floods so as to proactively take reponse measures, Ha added.
