Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh on December 10 inspected the construction progress of Cao Bo-Mai Son and Mai Son-National Highway 45 sections of the North-South expressway.

These are among 11 component projects of the 654-km North-South expressway, whichruns through 13 provinces and cities.
Thanh was accompanied by Vice Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho, leaders of several ministries,sectors and agencies.
Leaders of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee and representatives of local sector and agencies also joined the field trip.
For the Cao Bo - Mai Son sub-project, work on the 15.24-km expressway section started in December 2019, running through Y Yen district of Nam Dinh province and Yen Khanh, Hoa Lu, Yen Mo districts and Ninh Binh city of Ninh Binh province. To date, over 96 percent of the work load has been completed.
The contractor and investor have accelerated the construction progress in a bid to finish by the end of 2021.
For the Mai Son - National Highway 45 sub-project running through Ninh Binh has a total length of 14.35 kilometers. The site clearance work has been completed in April 2021.
To date, the contractor is speeding up the building of three resettlement areas and relocation of technical infrastructure and power lines. Over 42 percent of the construction and installment work load has been completed.
After inspecting two expressway sections, the Deputy PM underlined that the North-South expressway project is a key national project, therefore the quality must be a top priority.
He also asked Ninh Binh authorities to direct the contractor, sectors and agencies to accelerate the progress of these sub-projects and ensure enough supply of materials for construction in line with the required progress and quality.
