Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh on November 27 attended a ceremony celebrating 160 years of Nho Quan appellation and recognising Nho Quan district to achieve standards of a new-style rural area.

Nho Quan is a mountainous district that is located in the northwestern region of Ninh Binh province.
Having had different names in different periods, then the district was named Nho Quan in 1862.
It is the place where the first party organisation in Ninh Binh province was established in 1938.
After 10 years of implementing the National Target Programme on New-style Rural Area Building, Nho Quan has gained positive achievements. The ratio of industry, small-scale industry and construction is increasing, accounting for 36%, while industrial production value hits nearly 3 trillion VND, up 1.6 trillion VND compared to that of 2015. Total budget collection in the 2016-2021 period was over 1.8 trillion VND, up 1.5 trillion VND from the 2011-2015 period.
The rate of poor households decreased to2.1% in 2021. All inter-commune roads have been asphalted or concreted. All communes have been recognised as new-style rural areas.
On June 2, 2022, the Prime Minister recognised Nho Quan to have fufilledstandards of a new-style rural area two years ahead of schedule.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh congratulated the Party organisation, administration and people of Nho Quan district for their achievements in the recent years.
Minh called on Nho Quan to effectively capitalise on its potential and strengths to renovate its growth model, strongly restructure its economoy and mobilise all resources to build socio-economic infrastructure.
Nho Quan district should define clean industry and agriculture with high yield and economic value as a driving force for its development, he said.
He advised Nho Quan to develop eco-tourism, agro-tourism, cultural and spiritual tourism in combination with the buffer zone of Cuc Phuong National Park, thus gradually building the district as a tourism hub of the province.
The Deputy PM hoped that Nho Quan would continue implementing effectively the programme on building new-style rural areas, advanced new-style rural areas and model new-style rural areas in a bid to ensure the spiritual and material lives for local people.
He also recommended Nho Quan to pay special attention to preserving and promoting cultural and historical heritages and cultural traditions, especially that of Muong ethnic minority people in association with developing tourism.
