Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development works with Ninh Binh's leaders

The project aims to drain water for 975 hectares of land in the eastern and southern areas of Ninh Binh city, Khanh Phu industrial zone and surrounding resident areas, and provide water for agricultural production on over 3,000 hectares of Canh Dieu area. It also supplies more fresh water for Vac river (through Van river) in combination with improving the water environment.

The project has three main items: Canh Dieu pumping station, pumping station of the southern part of Ninh Binh city; upgrading and strengthening the banks of Van river.

It has total estimated capital investment of 600 billion VND, including 450 billion VND sourced from the state budget and managed by MARD, and the rest is managed by the provincial People's Committee.

At the session, a representative of the consulting agency presented the design of the project on upgrading and reinforcing the banks of Van river, the design of landscape along the banks and the design of the two pumping stations.

Delegates of MRAD and local department, sectors and localities discussed and clarified some contents of the project.

In his conclusion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep asked Ninh Binh to work with the Directorate of Water Resources to adjust the project on upgrading the southern bank of Van river.

Ninh Binh should accelerate the site clearance work and adjust the planning scheme so the project could be implemented as scheduled, he said.

The province should disburse the investment for the project at the same progress of MARD, Hiep added.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Cao Son thanked the Deputy Minister and his delegation for their ideas and said that the project would not only play an important role in irrigation but also create a new landscape for Ninh Binh's urban area.

Based on the conclusion of the Deputy Minister, Son assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to work with the consulting agency, related departments and sectors, and the People's Committee of Ninh Binh city to adjust the project's planning scheme.
