Creating a premise for youth to actively integrate

Over the past 89 years, under the leadership of the Party, guided and trained by the beloved Uncle Ho, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union has gradually asserted its revolutionary spirit, loyalty to the Party and the nation,becoming a key political force of the Vietnamese youth, and the Party's trusted backup team.

Through movements and campaigns launched by the Youth Union, generations of young people from all walks of life have affirmed, preserved and promoted the glorious tradition of the Vietnamese youth. It is the passionate patriotism, pioneering will, and willingness to take on and fulfill new and difficult assigned tasks, the spirit of studiousness, hard work, creativity, solidarity, readiness to master modern science and technology; and confidence in international integration.

In recent years, the Youth Union at all levels has actively researched and renovated the content and methods of political, ideological, ethical and lifestyle education, suitable to many different types of young people in association with promoting the study of and adherence to President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.

At the same time, many forums, programmes and contests using both traditional and digital means have been deployed to regularly exchange and orient young people in political and social issues; and to contribute to protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against wrong, distorted and hostile views; thereby, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of young people.

However, there are still a number of young people who are not yet firm in their political spirit, far from the revolutionary ideal, have a selfish lifestyle, and neglect the challenges and difficulties facing the country. Notably, in recent times, there are a small number of young people following negative trends, denying the great achievements in the socio-economic development of the country, especially on social networks. Crime and social evils among young people and adolescents continue to increase in both severity and nature of violence. Education levels and skills of many young people in rural, mountainous and ethnic minority areas have changed in a positive direction, but there is still a big gap compared to the common ground of the region.

The youth union work sometimes fails to adhere to the situation of young people, is not thorough in preventing and taking part in solving the daily issues of young people and teenagers, especially on the internet. The role of the Youth Union at grassroots level in many places are still passive, lacking creativity and not really following the legitimate needs of their members, therefore, not attracting the devoted participation of young people.

The Youth Union all levels should continue to research and renew the contents of action programmes, forms of political activities in accordance with the needs and psychology of the younger generation. More attention should be paid to the effective use of modern media, especially social networks, to gather, orient and consolidate the solid beliefs of the youth into the path that our Party has chosen.

In order to do that, the Youth Union should focus on selecting high quality staff with good knowledge, skills, dedication, affection, responsibility for the union work and the youth movements. Each union officer should actively promote the capacity and creativity in advising and planning the implementation of movements and activities. The creative contents and new features in the union work and the youth movement are prerequisites for union members and young people to be ready to take on challenges, dare to think, act to boost socio-economic development, and firmly protect the independence and sovereignty of the nation. The specific effect from the union's action plans will create the best environment to take care of and protect the legitimate rights and needs of the younger generation.

With the responsibility of guidance and orientation, the party committees and authorities at all levels should create favourable conditions, regularly care for, listen to,and share in the difficulties of youth union and young people to help them to strive and promote the best of their qualifications and creativity. Ministries and branches should closely coordinate with youth union organisations to create a favourable environment and an open mechanism for young people to confidently start their businesses, assert themselves and become useful citizens for the country.
