Coffee exports forecast to hit USD3 billion for the 2013-2014 crop

The Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa) has forecast that for the 2013-2014 crop, the country's coffee exports will reach more than 1.5 million tonnes, valued at USD3 billion, a year-on-year rise of 20 percent.
In fact, since the start of the year, export coffee volume was about 700 tonnes, (accounting for 40 percent of the forecast volume), valued at USD1 billion. Notably, export coffee prices during the period were around USD2,000-2,200 per tonne.
This is the fourth consecutive year Vietnam's coffee crop has achieved high volume and export turnover. Due to crop failure in some coffee areas around the world, coffee prices are forecast to rise sharply this year and this is a good signal for Vietnam's coffee exports.
